I will be there for 5 days and trying to make up a trip. What hostel or hotel did you stay at and is it worth taking a day trip to Cologne, Germany or Harlem or something?

I went, but unfortunately, that was almost seven years ago, and idk how the hostel situation is like right now

but it's cool just walking around Amsterdam, and doing the touristy stuff. the architecture is beautiful, and the weed cafes are alright.

Went when I was a kid twice and had a great time even though obviously I couldnt do the adult activities. The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum are great and there is the Anne Frank place even though its a tourist trap. We went on a day trip to The Hague once iirc. We stayed at a hotel with the old timey small and winding staircases, dont remember the name.

Just get a public transport ticket first thing. Its also easy to rent a bike and seek out places on your own.
