It was said earlier in the movie that force projection is powerful enough to kill someone, which is what Luke did. As for the "vanishing"...I guess that's to mirror how Obi-Wan died.

imo after rey and kylo were force projected together it showed kylo soaking wet and it was rey that was getting poured on. shows somethings carry over when the projection ends.

during lukes projection he was shot at hundreds of times, left standing in a crater, then sluced in halk by kylo. to me it makes sense that if i am right then when he released the projection he would take the damage

I mean, yeah, some of the plot is contrived, but that is perfectly normal for Star Wars and I don't know why people expect battlefield simulations from the series that brought us space wizards and AT-fucking-ATs.

Why use that as an excuse? Youve mentioned before that youre a writer, so I know that you know that fictional writing still should make sense even in its own fantasy world, so that you can have suspension of disbelief. We cant have Gandalf randomly show up, riding a Tyrannosaurus Rex thats shooting laser beams out of its eyes, just because Star Wars has space wizards and AT-fucking-ATs. (Id watch that, Btw.)

Geez. Yet another thread filled with butthurt Star Wars fanboys who are bemoaning that their pet theories didn't come true. At least this scene was far more believable than the garbage that graced ESB, where Luke fell 100ft to his......slide through tubes outside of cloud city.

Yeah there was seriously no worse thing they could have done and the only reason I can come up with for them doing it has disturbing-as-hell implications.

1. Leia does nothing whatsoever after that that somebody else couldn't have done, except get kissed on the forehead by Luke. The one time everyone looks at her for what to do she literally says "what are you looking at me for?" Someone with a blaster could have opened the door.

2. She had a perfectly good death scene and then they ruined it, only to now have to kill her offscreen between films. And it looked stupid to boot.

3. It really feels like the kind of thing where they decided to give her a bigger role when Carrie Fisher died, but of course she would be dead after that point so she couldn't film anything else. WHICH MEANS they literally filmed all those post-should-have-been-death scenes before CF died not intending to use them unless she died before the film released. Literally "hey Carrie you don't look so good maybe we should film some stuff for whe--if you die. You know, to save face."

As if there aren't a ton of reviews with hundreds of inconsistencies, plot points, bad storytelling, plot contrivances, inconsistent character motivations, lack of backstory, unrealized plotlines, and a ton of other objective and story based issues that have NOTHING to do with feminism or the female characters.

Hate disingenuous people who pretend there's nothing wrong with the movie from a fundamental film and storytelling perspective.

There's a shit ton of issues with the film without bringing up complaints about female characters or anything 'SJW' related.

Maybe it's because I went in expecting to hate it, but ended up really liking it.

I think the Leia flying scene was dumb.

No problem with Canto Bight, little side plotty, but I enjoy seeing new environment's in Star Wars even if they're a little different. That said Rose is meh so far.

I also think a lot of people are having trouble with the fact that their fan fictions didn't happen.

Phasma is a bit of a waste, but I get the feeling since they've pretty much said she survived, she's going to be put in the spinoff movies. A little dumb, but eh, Disney.

Supporters of feminism have said she was just that. The producer said the Force is Female , and the trusted publications have said things like this movie is a stab at toxic masculinity. The people complaining about this stuff didn't just draw it out of know where.

Note person I don't care about that stuff there is a lot more stuff that I can highlight. I just bring this up because the people who have that view is not pulling it out their asses.

Luke is a waste. More than a waste, Luke's character and the way he was destroyed is an insult and a travesty. The destruction and desecration of Luke's character will be talked about for years.

Finn was wasted. Comic relief with an unnecessary side quest that was totally unengaging. Even more so for Rose cuz I had no reason to be invested in her.

Leia should have died in space, there's NO REASON to keep her alive... What the actual fuck? Dying in space would have been memorable now she has to die offscreen. She doesn't even do anything the rest of the movie.

Akbar dies off screen like a chump? Give HIM the Holdo maneuver.

Holdo was a bad leader and a waste. Poe was also a bad leader. That whole mutiny plot was silly and contrived and hard to believe.

Phasma was a huge waste, brought back to die to Finn... Ok.

Snoke was wasted and taken out like a chump after exhibiting immense Force powers he then jobs to Kylo Ren by not paying attention or sensing the attack? What the actual fuck? And no backstory. No explanation.

Rey still has zero training but is able to go toe to toe with literally everyone, kills the Imperial guards, and is basically better than Kylo Ren. Rey even knocks Luke Skywalker on his ass. Rey whups Luke and puts him on his ass... Think about the stupidity of this shit.
