That would be cool, but just randomly springing it at the end without any teases wouldn't work.

Have her randomly show up at points during the story like she "was just passing by" and give insight on how the player is progressing. Have some of the villain team's henchmen comment how they were stomped in a Pokemon battle by a woman old enough to be their mother, or a woman that sort of resembled the player. Have the Pokemon that hangs around your house (like the Alolan Meowth in Pokemon Sun/Moon) be the lowest evolution of whatever super powerful Pokemon is the ace of her team. Stuff like that.

That'd actually be pretty killer, but wouldn't it be kinda hard to be this nobody trainer if you're the son/daughter of the region league champion? Besides, don't most pokemon games start with the main character just moving to that region? I know Brenden, I'm assuming the canon main character is always male, moved to Hoenn from Johto and Sun came from Kanto, meanwhile Red,Gold,Calum,Herbert,Nate and Lucus are natives to their regions.

Then again, they didn't tell us Brenden's dad was a gym leader nor did the locals recognize you as his son until you actually meet him, so I suppose it could work, but wouldn't having a parent of a character cause problems in them having a name ?
