But I can't think of a sane human taking offense to an in-movie term for an alien race, in context.

I hope not, one of the few joys I get out of life in tossing around random sprawl slang from Shadowrun and some of it's more amusing ones are fictional slurs. (Breeder, trog, dandelion-eater, etc.)
