the story i've heard is pretty much all of his relatives changed their names in the 40s and 50s.

edit: I think a lot of them chose not to have kids, too.

Hitlers family had no descendants all but one of his siblings died young and the surviving sister didn't have any children.

Closest blood relative's were cousins.
