It continues amaze me how people had no issues with every source of entertainment being white, but will be obtuse and think that Blacks finally getting a place in entertainment is a negative thing. It must have been easier for America when they didn't have to address inequality in Hollywood, which is still overwhelmingly white.

I dont care unless they changed an existing character purely for PR in a heavy handed way or are absurdly blatant and bias in their social commentary to the point of basically slapping you in the face as opposed to making a actually enjoyable work that more subtly and cleverly comments.

Like if you make the Villian a Elephant man named Trumpet the Nazi republican russian cheeto and have Spider-Man realize he needs to step aside so his black female friend who is obviously a better person than him can defeat him. That would be lame and stupid on so many levels and failing to advance the cause you are pushing at the same time.

If they replace Tony Stark with a minority man/women? Cool. We know RDJ is not gonna do Iron man much longer and just trying to replace him with a knockoff of himself would be lame. Trying to catch lighting in a bottle. A fresh take on the character could be good. Ideally the character would have some relationship with Tony before the passing of the torch. There are a few characters I could imagine taking on the role.

No one has a problem with black inclusiveness -- you don't see any complaints at all about shows like Blackish or Empire. The problem is simply taking white characters and making them black, which is both lazy and irritating to people who have connections to those original characters.

I think the biggest problem people have is when any character is changed drastically. This includes race. I certainly hated the idea of a black James bond. It is just so against my established image of him that it wouldn't work.

if this is about Black Panther, the problem is not the movie itself. it's what people in the real world say about it. my problems with the movie's treatment

1. calling it diverse when 99% of the cast is all one race

2. portraying it as a liberal movie just because the hero is black and not realizing that in the comics, Tchalla and Wakanda are exrememly xenophobic, conservative and distrusting of the world

3. acting like it;s gonna be the greatest movie in history when by all accounts it looks like an average entry in the MCU.

with all that said, I am going to be in the audience and I will let you know how it is. should be a fun movie

it's the other way around. it's always people cheering on the minority actor that I have only ever seen say that line. people say it everytime a white character gets turned black or asian or whatever.
