They certainly claim to, actually.

Actions speak louder than words, and this has been their behavior for the last several decades.

This sounds exactly like the arguments that lead to the "justification" of preemptive strikes. Going to war with them is the WORST thing we can do, therefore striving for peace is the best thing we can do, no matter how difficult it will be

Hell no, a pre-emptive strike would be a mistake of the century in my opinion.

But it's not a cookie cutter "They just want world peace because they sent some girls to the Olympics" scenario, either. It's probably the most complex and delicate geopolitical issues in the world. It's not magically over just because of what amounts to a political publicity stunt.

Nobody's saying it is. But it's like training a child or a dog. When they do something good you reward that and play along. Encourage that behavior.

To suggest this is to literally ignore the last two decades of North Korean political behavior, though. They get slapped with sanctions, their economy slumps even worse than it normally does, they act like they learned their lesson and are going to play ball, sanctions get eased, and they go back to the same dumb rhetoric and actions they were doing to begin with. They have no regard for the welfare of their citizens and they have no regard for the safety of their neighbors. Just a few months ago they were launching ballistic missiles over Japan without any sort of warning or notification to the international community. So no, it makes zero difference if we stand or sit for their anthem at what's become a rather heavily politicized international sporting event. They are going to do what they want to do at the end of the day.

Hell, they even pushed their annual military parade back from April (when it's been held for the last 40 years) to the first day of events at the Olympic games. Is that not extremely questionable behavior?

So I guess we should just give up on any chance of peace and kill them all right?

Didnt know not standing was a sign of murder

So he didn't stand for North Korea?

Would you?

When they're entering side-by-side with South Korea in a statement of unity, in South Korea? Yes, I would.

I don't know if I would stand if I didn't support that move, which I kinda don't. The two Koreas "putting aside their differences to come together in peace" is a farce that implies they simply have a childish spat with each other about red vs. blue and not that one is literally, without hyperbole, the most evil country to ever exist.

What's the alternative? Wiping out north korea and recolonizing it? No matter what, if there's gonna be a solution, it will need to be peaceful. So why not support any steps towards that end?

You think standing would actually have an impact? Lol

It would show that the US supports the idea of peaceful reunification. Don't underestimate the power of small gestures on the world stage.

NK believes in peaceful reunification as long as it's under their totalitarian regime. And we know that won't happen. Which is why they went to war with each other in the first place. And why the war is still technically not over.

First off, Pence can go fuck himself. Second, there's a difference between not standing for the flag and taking a knee in protest of it.

It's like the difference between not going to a movie you don't want to see and getting on stage in front of the movie screen to disrupt other people's enjoyment of the movie.

People kneeling arent disrupting anything.
