Just read an article about a couple in Massachusetts who are receiving free gifts from Amazon, similar to your situation. The article states that two "experts" believe it's an effort on behalf of the product sellers to manipulate the reviews of their products. They send out free stuff to people, then write their own reviews. Could be what's happening to you.

i once got a package from a chinese keyboard manufacturer, but the envelope was completely empty, despite the sticker saying the contents was a keyboard, mouse, and headset

yeah, random packages every now and then, that i don't have to pay for and they don't care about sounds nice
