Out of the closet: there's far more bottom gays compared to tops.
Namely twinks and bears. We have a huge surplus of these two as bottoms (unfortunately).

That's why super masculine or "alpha male" power tops or vers (versatile) men are so prized in gay male culture. They're less common to find. Twinks, bears, and gay gymbros fight over them.

However, most gay men overall are eventually willing to top or bottom depending on partners. Gay men who are vers are very common, partly because it opens significantly more opportunities for sex.

Yeah, in a lot of major cities most modern gay men are actually vers or eventually become so, for two simple reasons:

Sex and relationships.

Sometimes a vers guy who prefers to bottom will peg the fuck out of his boyfriend or fuck buddy a few times to get ass fucked in return. Sometimes a guy who's sexual history is 99.9% being a top suddenly wants his boyfriend to pound him once for a change of pace. He's not going to be happy when the boyfriend keeps saying no. What he's going to end up doing is get rammed by someone else to scratch his itch and then go back to his regular routine again. Once the genies out of the bottle, count on him doing that every time you refuse, with or without you knowing.

Not a problem if you're only interested in hooking up or having an open relationship. But it's cancer to exclusive relationships who want to settle down (basically the wanted endgame for a lot of gay couples because not everybody can fuck 'n' chuck forever).
