i've had some pretty bad back and shoulder pain for the past few years. i've avoided getting opiates for them as i've had addiction issues with them before

but on a whim i tried Kratom after reading about it in a reddit thread

it completely eliminates my pain for hours. sometimes even half the day. and it's cheap. and it doesn't give me any side effects, although i have heard of people using it recreationally. it doesn't impede any of my focus or motor functions. this seems like a miracle, i almost cried when i discovered it removes my pain

beware that Kratom is addictive. tolerance builds quickly and dependence is a thing. the legal status in the US is also iffy and the DEA has indicated they are moving it to Schedule I.

oh i know, i actually tried it first in december and just bought another bag after taking a month break. i didnt suffer any withdrawal, though i did need to increase the dosage eventually. i thought it was only illegal in a couple states

it is, but the DEA is starting to take notice of it and it seems like they're going back and forth?

that's lame. i am actively trying to avoid opiates. if they ban it then what are my options?

i use it a couple of times a week and absolutely love it. it can be very addicting though so i definitely wouldn't recommend using it any more than this unless trying to make it through opiate withdrawal or severe chronic pain issues.

But also hard to know exactly what you're getting cuz it tends to come from weird sources online.

you can help sign petitions and protest, etc if you believe in it.

the DEA seems to have a pattern of making things that compete with big pharma illegal, don't they?

Kratom is alright, it makes me jittery though. But I suppose that could be because I take it with adderall.

It's one of those things that varies person to person. Friend of mine takes it all the time and his addictive personality makes it a minor issue. Personally I've done it on and off and it helps with pain a fair bit and tastes gross as hell, when it comes to getting a buzz it's more that it enhances my mood rather than anything comparable to other drugs or alcohol. The whole banning thing is pretty fucking stupid in my opinion and probably just trying to avoid cutting in on the money big companies make off pain killers.

Itt: conspiracy theorists that assume it's all "big pharma" and not the fact that it has the potential to be crazy addictive.

Alcohol and cigarettes aren't any better. It's a not a conspiracy so much as a trail leading right to the door.
