Yeah and the other one is gone now because he had a major injury and has to go back home for his parents to take care of him... so if I throw this one out I have no way of affording the mortgage at all. I'm just so unhappy at this point though.

My buddy did this...he let a co-worker live with him who turned into a huge slob and ruined his newly finished floors in his bedroom. Made for an awkward "kick out".

So we got a new toilet installed this weekend... I definitely want him to use that one instead of making mine so disgusting. Well this is the damage after 1 day of him using it.



It's almost like since this is primarily his toilet that he sees it as something he can let get as gross as he wants!!! Which I don't even understand why someone would want to be sitting in filth, regardless of it being his own. He's so fucking disgusting.

Yeah so he's disgusting in the bathroom, nothing new and I have sent him pictures like this before telling him he needs to clean up after himself, we don't have a maid.

I understand part of the cleanliness of the house is my responsibility as the home owner but cleaning up his own messes was always part of our deal. It's like he thinks his mom is there and will pick up after him wherever he goes. When he gets new food, he'll never put it in cabinets, just leaves it all over the counter. Eventually I end up putting it away because in sick of looking at it... Or in the case of his bread, I throw it away after it's covered in green mold. For example...

Of course it's been snowing again over the past few days... Part of our agreement when he moved in was that he needs to help with shoveling, and he completely agreed at the time, like of course. But when push comes to shove, of course he doesn't fucking help. He sits on his ass in his room while I'm out there. He just doesn't care. 2 days in a row I've had to clear off the driveway and sidewalk and he sits in his room. So now I left his side of the drive covered. Will he get the message? Probably not because he's an idiot.

Then, you know, at midnight last night I hear him go downstairs and start doing laundry. He had been sitting around all fucking day, but he could not be bothered to do his laundry until fucking midnight. The machines are in the basement directly under my room and make a bunch of noise. To make matters worse, he always picks the dryer setting that makes it turn on and off for a few hours, rather than just a normal fucking dry. So every 5 minutes I hear it start up and then go BUZZZZ when it stops.

This is infuriating. It's one thing if it was an emergency and he needed clean clothes for today but he was literally there all fucking day. Just another thing on the long list of shit pissing me off.

Youre being passive aggressive instead of assertive. The appropriate response is to tell him to get his shit together or youre kicking him out. New roommates arent terribly difficult to find, and I would bet theres an agency out there that looks for and screens roommates

This. You're going to need to be as direct as possible with him on how he needs to change and let him know how you're going to hold him accountable for this. Being passive aggressive and ranting about him on a message board isn't going to get the message drilled into him. You have to let him know that either he starts cleaning up after himself and doing his fair share of house work or you're going to be looking for another roommate.

Ok yeah but it's not that simple. Up to now, my roommates have only been friends and family. If I do something like that, we get into like a real rental situation, with a lease and taxes and shit. I've been clear with them that this is just friends helping out with the bills, not rent.

I'd much rather just rent out the entire house to a family and move back in with my parents until I figure shit out. I'm going to law school in the fall too and still don't know if I'm gonna go somewhere like NIU where I would have to get an apartment out there.
