It's very cartoony and less realistic than other battle royale games, but the fort building is a central aspect that you don't necesarily have to use, it expands the depth of gameplay a lot. You can destroy almost anything in the environment and build forts of various sizes. In a 1v1 situation you can quickly build a tiny wall to shield yourself and plan your next move.
