He made daughters from sugar, spice, and everything nice. Why the fuck are you concerned about her skin color? You should be more concerned about the fact that he somehow made daughters in the first place.

He intentionally made her black and a teenager and this time he claims he made her because he found out "someone else made a boy" not because he wanted kids

Their arm stubs have little tiny hooks attached to them like Spider-Man's fingers.

I made that up (maybe), but they just can. In one episode, they switched bodies with some people (Buttercup ended up in Professor Utonium's body) and Buttercup tried to pick up the phone handle by just touching it and was surprised when that didn't work.

Yeah, it turns out there was a 4th powerpuff girl

He had a black "daughter" that he made locked up in stasis in his basement.

She's like 13. He reveals he's been making kids for several years and that she wasn't even the first kid he made (He's made at least 26)

Do you go up to adopted mixed race families and ask why they didn't adopt same race children?

I was never a big Powerpuff Girls fan, so I don't have strong opinions one way or the other. But I kinda wonder if this might be one of those occasions where they'd have been better off changing the ethnicity of one of the preexisting characters. Adding a fourth girl ruins the trio dynamic.

I feel like I would've added a fifth Powerpuff Girl just to have kept it at an odd number -- and to disguise the fact that one of them was added solely for diversity.

People don't design the kids they adopt... what the fuck?

A better example would be artificial insemination from a sperm bank.

do people really go to the sperm bank and get other race's sperm? Why? and how do they pick what race exactly?

I just found an article where this girl is Half Indian with two jewish lesbian moms and they chose to be inseminated by an Indian man because of something or other, it was a really long and weird article

I don't think Utonium "designed" the powerpuff girls.

I mean they look like they have toilet rolls for limbs and their faces are hideous.

On and unrelated note, if I ever had an opportunity to do an adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I'd want Don to have a black VA. In the comics, he had a darker complexion than his brothers and I feel like he'd fit the "black and nerdy" trope to a t(-u-r-t-l-e).

I haven't actually seen the reboot, but in general, I feel that adding a new character is much better than changing an existing one, at least in this kind of case. There's no logical reason for one of the PPGs to suddenly become black. (Compare eg. Captain America, which is more of a persona than an actual person, so there's no logical reason why when the current one steps down, the person who takes over couldn't be black.)

He did design them. He mentions this in the episode.

He had chemicals A through X and every time he tried to create a kid he dumped in a bottle by accident.
The black girl was made with chemical W.

He's been making kids in his basement for years

Your questioning a father's choice of having a daughter a different race than him.

Parents adopt (or for your preferred example artificial instrumentation) children that are different races/mixed race.

It's the same thing. Your argument hinges on why would a parent want a child that is a different race than them when they could have a same-race child.

He did design them.

If you say so.

I remember an episode where for some reason the Powerpuff Girls go the future and in the future an evil dude has taken over the world in their absence.

You see Utonium as an old crazed man repeatedly trying to recreate them but is unable to do it because can't remember exactly what he did. So every experiment fails

That's like the opposite of design. If it was by design he coud replicate it.

In general, yeah, I too feel it's better to introduce a character. But in this case, I kinda feel like it'd be better to make Buttercup black and move on with the story as it is than to upset the trio dynamic. I can't really see "Powerpuff Girls" as a four-girl team.

Having four team members is a better fit for something action oriented whereas three members is better for individual focus and comedic purposes.

If they really needed to stick with three, they could've maybe killed off (perhaps not literally killed, given the target audience) one of the existing ones.

Making Buttercup black would have everyone crying because they would be portraying the more masculine girl as a black girl.
