Yeah you could probably pull off the haircut in the pic. I recommend going on YouTube and looking at the haircut videos made by Alpha M and TeachingMensFashion, they have a lot of other videos on mens fashion in general, too. A bit ad/sponsor heavy, though

Do not do a fade. I can tell the way your hair goes that it would look really nice with just a clean up. Trim up the edges, blow dry it back.

It's receding and you have some diffuse loss. Nothing treatment can't mostly fix/halt at this point, if it's really bothering you.
