I always thought Chrono Cross was better but a lot of gamers say CT is the GOAT of RPG gaming. One guy on facebook even had the Chrono Trigger logo tattooed on his back.

First game I ever finished. Took me forever - brother refused to let me use his SNES so I only got to play when he wasn't around.

i replayed it as an adult and i loved but, but i was surprised it only took 12 hours to complete.

maybe if you wanted to see all the endings.. but they're not all that great, save for a few.

I think it might have been the first jrpg for some people. I was too concerned with FF6 at the time to worry about it. Tried it years later and it's ok but not something I feel like worshipping

The game had some pretty fantastic music and the double / triple techs were a cool novelty at the time. There was also a ton of attention to detail such as how if you open a chest in the past it's empty in the future, but you can open it in the future and open it again in the past. A ton of cool shit went on in the festival that came back to make a difference later. The game was fairly open ended about how to approach the final boss with multiple endings as a result and it's the first jrpg I'm aware of to have a New Game+

Dragon Ball artstyle, Squresoft, good story, great OST and graphics.

Cross is good with an even better OST imo, but that's all I really liked better over Trigger.

I played it around 10 years ago and it was still great. A fun combat system, charming story with a lot of heart and some epic music. Time travel is also a concept that isn't used in games all that much.

Also the game has really good pacing for a JRPG. It rarely feels like a grind.

I think the attack ranges were the funnest part. Then the time travel, characters, story... Overall the game was a generation or two ahead of it's time.

Well for starters it's one of the most ridiculously polished games ever made, especially in terms of visuals & audio. Everything about the game just feels so... clean.

For the time, it was probably the most charming and best looking game of its kind localized to the US. There are way prettier jrpgs you can find on the super famicom, but not here. That and the story is very simplistic, has cute characters, and interesting enough events to keep you going which has been a winning formula even as recent as games like Undertale.

Chrono Trigger is a great example of the genre and for someone who doesn't play a ton (or played a bunch of it as a kid) one of the best, even

Time travel and an OST that made me actually cry. I, however, hold Chrono Cross in a deeper place in my hear because it was my first RPG ever, and it was freaking awesome.
