Canker sore. Cause unknown, though usually attributed to stress and/or poor dental hygiene.

It'll break open in a day or two then hurt like a bitch for about 5 days then go away.

Canker sores are not contagious, but I wouldn't be giving oral sex with an open sore in your mouth.
