I liek the ogres you fight in the abandoned castle on the southern most island that looks like austrailia.
Also the strongest weapons in the game the excaliber comes from forging your dark blade with a rat's tail or somethign similar.

The game also progressively does things different which keeps the cast of characters relatively familiar. Overall I'd give it an A+ 10/10 Fibonacci sequence

Y'know - every time I think of something I like about the game it's combined with an equally bitter counterpart.

For example, I'm all like. "I really like that cave where you can't wear metal!" and then I'm like "Oh ya, the boss is a terribly long cutscene"

I really like the 4 fiends, they're so cool! Oh man, all the other bosses are dumb and boring

Cool! We're underground! Let's have a subboss and just walk around a tower for the next hour.

Oh, I loved all the buildup to the Mombomb boss!!!! *party wipe*

Hey, it's Rydia... oh noes, died by mistake... looks like I have to watch the 30 minute cutscene again

I sure like how memorable all these characters are... ALL of them leave

I try to think of what I like but all I can think back to is the twins and their sacrifice.....

EDIT: Didn't realize they were cured later. Neat.

Out of curiosity does this game hold up well today(i.e., compared to modern retro style games)? Thinking about getting it. I've only played FF7 and FF8.

Story holds up, except for the ending which is stupid (they pulled an FF9 >....>, or FF9 pulled a the this)

Graphics hold up, although I dislike the poor animation quality on the 3D versions so the 2D spritework seems better to me

Difficulty and balance holds up, with a few exceptions (the CPU boss is really easy, but has a 50/50 chance of instantly winning on the first turn which make it unfair and hurty)

Pacing is a little off though, but good for a Final Fantasy which is a series that doesn't pace itself well (on average)

Music holds up, but some of the themes are extremely overplayed - not bad, but overplayed. Every character has their own theme (a leitmotif) but their song plays EVERY TIME THEY SPEAK which just kinda... ehhh, but this was their first attempt at trying this and they exemplified it in FF6

OVerall, pretty decent

I like that it was popular enough to warrant making FFV.

My favorite Final Fantasy.

Party size of 5 is great. No character homogenization. DS version is a proper challenge.

I have a signature. Apparently this is important, but I still don't have my secret cool kid decoder ring yet.
