Prognosis is good though since the tumor was completely sealed inside the removed appendix.

Lucky that it was localized inside the appendix and hadn't spread. Was it early detection?

Well, she went to get her appendix out because it looked like the appendix was about to burst - but it wasn't, only after the biopsy did we find out it was a healthy intact appendix with a giant tumor inside it. (which was about to burst)

The tumor was fully encased, but they have to do follow up tests to see if there's any stray cancer sells in the appendix~colon area

so they weren't able to save her appendix because of the tumor? luckily you don't really need your appendix.

hopefully the follow ups come back negative for cancer anywhere else. what would have happened if the tumor burst? would it be the same danger as the appendix or did they say the cells would have been able to remain encased?

It's not that, they THOUGHT it was appendicitis, and removed it as such - they didn't know there was cancer at all until the biopsy
