Current Events > So, are the iPhones pretty much garbage now? Is there one that I should buy?

Just one to keep me warm until the next update in summer. I have the 6s, but its slowly becoming just so tiresome to wait for and I don't want to leave the security blanket of apple and the blue messages.

Any advice?

i was gonna hop on the X train but after seeing that they plan on discontinuing the model I'll just wait until the fall. thats such a long time tho, I'm in need of a new phone.

same as you, 6s, but the edges of the bezel are starting to come off and its caused some dust to get under my screen, even with a case, and my touchscreen picks and chooses to work or not. my camera is constantly blurry too. might just see if I can get some cheap repairs to fix those things, because other wise the phone works fine.

Just some rumblings that the X doesn't appear to fit in line with Apple's proposed 2018 line up, lower than expected demand, etc.

From a practical point of view, the X comes off to me as unfinished both in terms of hardware and software. I see no reason why I have to learn new gestures when those tasks were previously solved by use of a button.

Definitely not worth having what is quite clearly a design flaw. I mean, people put their phones in a case anyway, especially with these $1,000 devices. Case or no case, my phone's camera is flush with the body.

Another benefit to making the phones thicker is that they could fit in a larger capacity battery to help solve their battery woes.

Correct, but at this point I'm wondering if they don't consider it a "design flaw" but rather "important" in the design.

I'm not really sure what 0.05 mm would do for the battery though. You could make it slightly thicker, but I think they need more of a complete redesign of the layout inside for anything substantial.

Galaxy S8 is 10% thicker than an iPhone 8 but its battery capacity is 65% larger. That's what I mean. Of course, internal design plays a role here too but I think a thicker body would surely help

Also I forgot Apple legitimately shrunk the battery when going from the 6 to the 6S models to fit the 3D Touch controls rather than making the phone thicker.
