https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/i-became-a-plus-size-fitness-model-worlds-body-standards_us_5a4e8205e4b01e1a4b13be86

Size 18. XL. XXL, depending.

This is my size. Its not the typical size range of most fitness models, and certainly not the average size handed to stylists when pulling workout clothes for photo shoots. It goes beyond our societal understanding of what fitness looks like and challenges the perception of who deserves to personify a healthy body. Nonetheless, its a size that has jumped, crunched and jiggled into a few fitness model moments.

Exercise has always been a huge part of my life as a plus-size person. My high school athlete years translated into an adult interest in continuously finding ways to stay active. Ive done yoga, CrossFit, boxing, swimming, powerlifting and running, but my body always stayed in that size 18 spot, making it incredibly difficult to acquire that perfect pair of workout leggings without having to order them online.

And while I was living my best solo fitness life, I never actually felt like a part of the exercise community. I mean, how could I? Most workout attire didnt come in a size 18/20, every time I stepped into a gym I was immediately bombarded with questions about my weight-loss goals, and I was forever surrounded by non-fat people equating eating a slice of pizza to how fat they feel.

I have, for lack of a kinder term, a before body. A body with a belly and ass that stick out no matter the outfit or angle. A body that is not represented as a goal. While I am extremely confident about my body, it is the first thing people notice when I enter a room. It is a body that is denied any form of neutrality as I traipse through the world.

Furthermore, its a body that is constantly questioned when it comes to health and ability. As a result, it took me a really long time to believe that my body was just as strong and just as valuable as omnipresent hardbodies. Seeking out other bodies like mine via any Tumblr blog, website or magazine article I could get my hands on was the first step to truly understanding I could be a healthy, plus-size woman. I really had to see it before I could believe it.

You can be overweight and still be "fit," depending on what you determine to be fit. If it's having good cardio, sure. I mean look at people like Cain Velasquez -- fat guy, but can fight for 25 mins at the same pace.

Because she's not plus size, notice they don't mention her weight and height thats because people would instantly find out she's probably borderline morbidly obese.

And fat isn't beautiful or healthly it's ugly and places you at massive risk of heart attacks, strokes certain cancers, diabetes and god knows what else.

This is a pretty misogynistic view man. Power and money only matter to a small subset of women. Typically your stereotypical hot girls under the age of 25. The overwhelming majority of women want:

1)a man with a good personality
2)a man who can make them laugh
3)security and or stability
4)confidence

Most of the people I know in my life are women, many of whom are quite attractive. None of them date "Chad's" or powerful/rich men. Most of them directly say they want a chubby jolly guy with a beard who makes them laugh and has their shit together.

I make 30k a year, live with a roommate, am barely average looking at best, and I do just fine with women, and definitely "punch above my weight" as people would call it.

How you carry yourself is a major major thing.

There is more to health and fitness than just lifting weights and cardio.

It's also eating correctly. Which she obviously isn't doing.

The title is so angsty and edgy that it's projection obvious insecurities about the writer.

As someone who struggles with weight and has a borderline eating disorder, it takes effort and perseverance to have the bodies actual fitness gurus have.

I also laughed at the first photo lmao. Wow you can raise your leg. GG.

That's romanticist view and frankly unrealistic look at the world, yes you maybe able to pull women but will they settle down or start a family with you in that situation etc pretty unlikely unless she thinks she can't do better.

And no it's not misogynistic and just the way women are, it's why there's a plague of high end education unmarried women currently and why 80% of marriages where the woman out earns the man end in divorce.

No its definitely pretty misogynistic and bitter. It's also not unrealistic, it's how literally all the women I know and have dated are. I don't always get girls that "settle" either. I make use of tinder for hook ups regularly. I have no interest in dating right now.

The older women get, the less they want "chads". Thats a uniquely young woman thing. Just like how young men only want dimes.

You know who comes up in conversation as the ideal man in terms of looks and personality by a large number of women in my circles? Seth fucking Rogan.

Also, those marriages that end in divorce(never mind most marriages end in divorce period) due to the woman making more, are almost entirely due to a man's insecurity on the issue. Not the woman disliking the situation.

My ex, whom I dated for 2 years, made almost 3 times as much as me, owned her own house, and none of that was ever once an issue for either of us.

Look at all the bitterness in this topic.

This biard right as well be called Bitrex some days.

Guess what folks, obese people don't want to see already fit people working out. They don't want to see perfect people doing perfect little exercises.

So, modern fitness marketing doesn't appeal to them, and instead makes them feel literally unworthy of walking into a gym.

This kind of fitness model gets obese people thinking 'I could do that!'. Which is what they need.

I mean, you bunch of saps WANT obese people to work out, right? You WANT them to lose weight, right?

If so, the adverts need to appeal to them.

There's a personal trainer I know, and she is 250+ pounds. She is regularly more busy than the fit trainers at the gym she works at, because her appearance is not threatening or intimidating to overweight people.

So, if you want overweight folks to go lose weight, get used to this kind of marketing.

Or, be less fucking bitter.

She was willing to get her picture repeatedly taken for money for both stock images specifically for "overweight women exercising" and then used in an ad campaign for a gym that targets fatties.

Multiple people (in marketing) wanted her image and paid her accordingly -- literally a model, moreso than an random hottie from instagram.
