I know one shouldn't take the Oscars seriously...but Roman Polanski got a roaring applause when he won his Oscar for best director yet someone says James Franco is creepy and he doesn't even get a nod for a role that earned him a Golden Globe?

Probably trying to avoid anyone with misconduct allegations. Which would highlight just how embarrassingly deep Hollywood's depravity goes and how virtually everyone was complicit in one way or another. They'd look like hypocrites.

Biggest snub in recent memory was LEGO Movie not even getting a nomination despite being almost universally viewed as the best animated movie that year.
