Probably not. :(

It's pretty ironic that the area it was first designed for is the only one (between mobile, server and desktop) it hasn't penetrated much. I think Linus had something to say about that.

There needs to be some reason for a mass exodus away from Windows, and I cant see anything causing that on traditional desktops. The Windows 8 "fiasco" of neckbeards raging about change(plus Valve putting some consumer name recognition behind it) was probably the best chance Linux had(in its traditional form) of penetrating the consumer desktop market.

Some distros are pretty developer friendly but Windows has a good suite of dev tools as well.
