The scale of this blows my mind, when I consider the comparatively miniscule length of recorded human history:

If we haven't figured out how to get off this planet by the time we need to, we deserve to be wiped out

To put this into perspective, the Earth is guaranteed to be uninhabitable in 50,000 years. Thats roughly 658 generations, assuming the average lifespan remains 76.

That seems pretty damn small tbqh

Yeah but if you think how far space exploration technology has come in the last 100 years alone, where might we be in fifty thousand?

Im pretty sure string physics have proven that humans would not be able to survive near light-speed travel - or at the very least our own consciousness. The best we could hope for is clones of ourselves being transported somewhere.

So basically were fucked. Sort of.

I feel like generation ship like from orphans of the sky or the quarian mothership from mass effect is the realistic way to travel to deep space.

When it is all or nothing i can we can spare the resources.

Of course, it would be so big and probBly have to assembled in space
