1800s shanghai detective game (i think LA noire devs wanted to do this, but the project was axed or something)

survival horror/historical RPG set in 1600s south america involving spanish inquisition and the church (expedition conquistadors is kinda similar, but make it more creepy and stuff)

a whodunnit murder mystery game inside an isolated space shuttle for a mission to deep space

An rpg set in dying fantasy world, like a prelude to apocalypse thing where factions fight for last scraps of resources

And really, competently made civilization: beyond earth would be cool

Sim City, but in a Classical/Medieval setting.

indeed, even better i want a really authentic interpretation of chinese mythology made into an RPG.

i mean jade empire i still unique and cool ,but it's really a collection of chinese kungfu cliche and tropes and most of western comic-booky interpretation of the mythos.

i wouldn't trust 2018 bioware for it though.

parts of shadworun: hong kong did well with the setting and mix of the chinese mythology and stuff, stilll i want something that commits fully into it

Since I'm a history student, I'd like to see open-world RPGs/ action-adventure games set in these time period. I'd prefer to see a developer other than Ubisoft take a shot at some of these, maybe Rockstar? Here they are:

Warring States Period China, Song Dynasty China
Classical India, Mughal India and the consolidation of power and territory by the British East India Company
18th century England, or Victorian era Great Britain.
Anglo-Saxon England, Viking Invasions, 1066 etc.

Crusader Kings 2 is open world RPG and you can play in Anglo-Saxon England, Viking Invasions, 1066 etc. It doesnt have any action/adventure in though. Since you are interested in history you should most definitely play it though.

the story is basically your clan is in danger, you have to travel to england to get resource. either get help from northumbria, or the picts by helping them in their war, or raze them both and pilfer everything they have like a good viking you are, and use the resources you get to strengthen your clan.

age of decadence style RPG set in china during opium wars could be interesting too. short, but replayable RPG which let you see the events from alot of different POV in each playtrough

I want an AAA game about vikings though. At least we're getting a lot of the myth and landscapes in God of War this year but I'm aiming for something along the lines of what Rockstar managed to accomplish with RDR.
