I'm playing it now and it is very fun.

It's my first fallout game tho

The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't up the difficulty anymore without disabling saving and fast travel.

It is a little easy after all, even on Very Hard.

I never even finished the story in Skyrim and I have so many hours on that game

Maybe I will do survival mode eventually.

Exploring stuff is the most fun part of the game anyway

I just really don't want to not have fast travel

Been playing again and I'm having fun too. Especially building settlements. Of course it's a downgrade from New Vegas, but that doesn't make the game irredeemably terrible. People have to overexaggerate though.

I'm playing it right now too and it's just pretty bland. Even the building options suck, which is seemingly what they thought they went heavy on. I'm just finishing up the DLC shit, which also sucks, otherwise I wouldn't go back to play it. You're better off with Skyrim or New Vegas.

It's been a while since I played this one, but I seem to recall that you could just half-ass the mandatory settlement crap. My main complaint was the power armor. Otherwise, I thought it was similar to the third game, which is exactly what I wanted.

Lack of RPG mechanics and aged software.

I could write an essay on it but I need to go to bed. Basically it's not just a step backwards from New Vegas, it's falling down the stairs.

Dialogue system has been butchered and replaced with the Yes, Yes, Yes, No (Yes) system. Forced voice acting with only two VA choices and an extremely intrusive main quest further diminish RP possibility. New perk system scraps the character building set-up from previous games and instead just gives uncreative boosts most of the time. Factions suck. Story is dumb. Few enjoyable characters. Massive overreliance on "clear out those raiders" quest types.

Settlement system is fundamentally flawed in that NPCs don't have good enough AI to interact with anything in a meaningful way so unless you love architecture more than actual RPG gameplay then the system gets old really fast.

Gameplay overall is still running on like 2004-tier engine technology so in general movement and world-object interaction stuff is just clunky and often unsatisfying.

FO4 is far from great, but no; FO3 was Bethesda's lowest mark.

If you went into FO4 expecting it to hold a glimmer of a candle to NV, you deserved your disappointment. All I wanted Beth to accomplish was to at least make some notable improvements over the pile of soiled diapers that was 3, so I personally was fairly pleased when they at least accomplished that.

I dont get the people that think NV is the best fallout. The Mohave desert and vegas are already a wasteland without nukes hitting it

The only thing Fallout 4 did well was gunplay and if you just played it as a free-roam shooter, similar to something like the newer Far Cry games, it was fine. But if you wanted to immerse yourself in the world, enjoy the story, or roleplay a character, you know the things people typically do in RPGs, it was awful.

I have Sim Settlements, and I love building up the Settlements. The main story is kinda bland, so I see peoples concerns there. Some of the sidequests story arcs are very engaging.

Yeah I also like the little stories scattered throughout the game in the terminals.

It's fun to investigate the scene and read shit and find out what went down.

I guess it's rpg stuff is kind of bland and there is a lot of fetch quests but a lot of the mods help a lot.

Still I wouldn't say this game as much fun as Skyrim.. and borderlands is still the best shooter imo as long as you have 4 people

Because people love to hate new iterations of things. Humans prefer to repeat their comfortable moments rather than move on to new things.

I like it. I just love Fallout so I like them all for different reasons.
