Super Mario 64 is one of this games that was revolutionary back when it released, but is a chore to play nowadays.

Another example: Pokemon Gen 1. Though SM64 aged much better than Pokemon G1.

I have to admit I l've watched far more Souls than I've played, and I've played a lot. Souls live streams are just perfect because the popular streamers have nice voices, they are super knowledgeable about a deep game so I'm always learning something, and the games have very limited music, which helps me use it as background noise for many things (I don't know why that's true for me but it is.

I also like watching SM64 speedruns a lot. And playing it. But I've also been playing the game since I could pick up a controller so I don't really struggle with the controls.

Speedruns are one thing. Same goes for amusing mods.

Watching someone else play a game normally is hilariously stupid. Let's Plays are laughable.

Oh yeah, the "0.5 A-presses" guy. He's great. Mario 64 and Pokemon R/B/Y are definitely games that have aged badly, but toying with all the insane glitches and exploits (or watching others do the same) has proved to be a fantastic way to keep them fresh and relevant.

I was playing Super Mario 64 just a few days ago. It's fine. The camera is rarely a problem unless you flat refuse to mess with the C buttons.

I only played the 64 version for the first time a few years ago and it controlled great

TAS shit can be amazing for it though, pannenkoek's banned speedrun competition submissions are gold

pokemon wasn't and still isn't fun on its own merits
it's the addictive nature of collecting and exploring that give the games any worth

I like the backwards jump to go through walls in TAS runs.

turning or moving slowly after standing still can be a problem (there have been times I pressed right and mario went down, and it's not rare either, at least for me), but aside from that it's mostly fine
