Im on day 2 of my goal of 30 days on a keto diet. Ive been eating low carb for the last few weeks so the transition shouldnt be too terrible. I feel fine so far, not too many cravings.

Yesterday I had eggs and bacon for breakfast, chicken and veggies for lunch and burger patties for dinner. A handful of raspberries for dessert.

Today I had eggs and bacon, with a heaping helpful of brussels sprouts. Will have chicken and veggies for lunch. For dinner, I went to the market and got fresh scallops and shrimp. Will make a mango salsa and serve with arugula.

Anyone on or ever do keto? Whats your experience been? Any recipes you can share? My goal isnt to lose weight but just cut out food that trigger bad reactions I have to sugar/carbs. I plan on slowly reintroducing carbs after to see what I can tolerate. Will start with gluten free first.

I have a huge tri-tip roast thawing in the fridge so any tri-tip recipes would be appreciated!

The Keto Flu is real. I can never get my carbs low enough to go full Keto for more than a day or two. It just feels too punishing.

You can actually get all the macronutrients you need in a vegan diet, unlike keto.

That's because you're starving your body of a necessary macronutrient. It's like not eating anything at all to lose weight and wondering why you feel terrible.

Its not for me, but your body is resilient. My wife lives on it. I occasionally have to make her eat some carbs because she gets mental confusion when she is deprived of carbs for too long.

I hope this works out for you OP.

I felt pretty crummy a few weeks ago when I cut carbs. I didnt go as low as on keto though. It was basically keto with a small bag of chips or a couple of cookies here and there. I was still super cranky, had major cravings and felt really sluggish.

But lately I feel like I have more energy and focus than usual. Could also be because Im taking a lot less medication. Those meds make me feel like complete shit.

My sex drive is up too, oh heeeey.

Thanks! Curious, is there a reason your wife lives on it? Does she also have intolerance to food?

I dont really want to live on it, more like trying to do a reset on my body. 16-BITTER posted...

I did this for 14 days just on a whim. Wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't do it full time. Low carbs for sure, but not full keto.

Yeah, after 30 days I will try to integrate more carbs. Maybe brown rice to start. Gluten free bread, etc.

The worst for me is a I have a total sweet tooth and loooove to bake. Im planning on baking an apple pie this Sunday for a family gathering. It will be hard not to sample any.

No, carbs should always be the highest of your macros, although the exact ratio depends on your body and goals.

Whatever you're trying to do though, your body needs energy. NEVER do low carb.

I did. I lost 50 pounds and gained it all back.

For long term weight loss, you need to have a balanced diet that has fewer calories. Keto is not a miracle thing. It kind of tricks you with some immediate fast results but you'll eventually plateau on your weightloss from keto and then you're back to where you started except you can't keto twice.

tl;dr don't do keto for more than 6 months, start looking into healthy food alternatives and generally just eating less.

She had a metabolic disorder. She had to have surgery to remove a section of her stomach. She has to eat a ton of protein for her body to keep up. Basically, she has a small stomach and carbs come last. She cant eat enough to get them in.

Yeah the last couple of weeks have been bad because of the cravings. Those chips and cookies were mistakes. But I actually have tried no added sugar before. It reduces them somewhat but doesnt eliminate them. I still dont do well with pasta for example. Fruit with high sugar content also trigger me. Apples, bananas, oranges, etc.

In the past, I tried 30 days of keto and had 2 migraines that whole month. Both times from having cheated. I just have bad self control. Its soooo hard when youre surrounded by carbs everywhere you go. Honestly, Id be a complete fatty if I could eat what I wanted without getting triggered.

Day 3. Still doing ok. Some minor cravings but ok for now.

I do need to up my calories though. I checked out of curiosity and only ate like 800 calories yesterday. So Ive been snacking on almond butter today. I just feel way more full so its hard to keep eating. My scallops with mango salsa were fucking amazing though. Eating good stuff like that helps big time.

Funny enough a few of my coworkers are also doing keto. One lost 17 lbs after 3 weeks and says he feels great. Im hoping to get that energy high soon. Hopefully in a few days.

Been doing keto/keto-ish since September with some good results. Initially started because I heard it was really good for preserving muscle mass while cutting. I've lost about 30 pounds since then and I'm still losing some some overall. Started to introduce some dextrose for the gym (15-20g) because I've been bonking but the best thing about the diet is that I don't really have hunger massive hunger pangs as opposed to any other time I've dieted.

Supplement electrolytes, especially sodium, and you should be fine. Head over to the subreddit for more information.

When I first did it, it was about 18 months ago, but the first two weeks were poopy, then after that it was great. Lost 20lbs in the first month

Day 4

Yesterday was my first migraine free day in 2 months. Sooo happy! I do have a slight headache but I can deal with that. My husband also found the book he got me a few years back that details why a carb diet is bad for migraine sufferers. Its written by a neurosurgeon that has treated migraines, alzeihmers, etc. I plan to read it again tonight for motivation.

Im struggling with eating enough calories though. Im super petite and dont want to lose any weight. What are some fatty, calorie dense foods I should eat? Ive been eating like 900-1000 calories a day. I want to be around 1200-1300. Im pretty active in that I walk a lot for work too. I walked about 2 hours yesterday.

I dont want to lose my booty :(

This is why keto diets work. Appetite suppression and harder to get calories. Just try not to destroy your general health with crap food while treating your head. Have you done a baseline check/allergy/scan to cover bases with this issue? I just don't want you having some undiagnosed brain tumor that goes nuts on sugar.

Ive had allergy tests, hormone tests and MRIs. Everything comes up normal. Thats whats been so frustrating. Diet seems to be the only thing that helps for me.

I buy the ones that are already blended. I tolerate the strawberry one much better than the other flavors. The artificial sweetener in this one is Splenda which I think most people do well with. Its also one of the last ingredients on the package. If it was Aspartame, I could totally see the headaches.

Day 5

Still no migraine! *knocks on wood*

This seriously gives me hope. I believe Im fat adapted. I had like 5 sausage links for breakfast at 9 am. I didnt eat lunch until 2. I just wasnt hungry at all.

Ive been making interesting meals to keep myself from boredom. I made a tri tip roast last night. I made mango habanero BBQ sauce for my husband (I cant tolerate spicy food anymore). But I enjoyed making it from scratch. My roast came out perfectly tender.

I want fun make fun food like macadamia crusted mahi-mahi, seasame crusted ahi tuna, filet mignon with buttery pan sauce, chicken tenders using almond or coconut flour. Unfortunately I lost a pound. Need to keep my calories up. Ive been trying to eat more almond butter. Yesterday I added extra butter to my meal too. Ive also been adding heavy whipping cream to my coffee lol.
