Game makes it real annoying to try a mage build, seriously. Level 13 and I've invested everything into Magicka, and STILL run out mid battle. I'm playing modded on the xbone, btw.

Trying to resist that urge to fall back on the ol' stealth archer build by telling myself it'll get better later on.

Try staves and scrolls. Pure self-generated magic is something you happen upon late game.

Also High Elves start with 50 extra magicka so you done goofed if you picked something else.

Cook some fondue eat a couple of them for 100 extra mp and 25% mp regain each (they stack). Just have to track down ale as moon sugar and the cheese are easier to find.

Eat 10 veggie soups and you can run for the entire time it lasts as your stamina regenerates faster than you use it. Heck one or two gives infinite power attacks or shield bashes.

Food in Skyrim is often over looked.

Oh yeah I forgot about Elsweyr Fondue. Food is usually a pointless role-playing thing but this stuff is extremely essential for any mage. By far the most OP food and rivals most potions.

I hate how the flamethrower magic becomes useless almost immediately >_> That 1 spell is so much fun. The only decent attack spells are the fireball ones which aren't as fun

That charged spell that shoots a giant ice blast through walls and freezes anyone who walks in it is amazing crowd control. In fact, ice magic in general is amazing, as long as the opponent doesn't resist.

Conjuration is OP.
I like doing the Winterhold college stuff because you can go right into the archmage's room and nick his Ice Atronach staff.

You can also make your own in the midden or make a storm atronach staff even. The college has some nice benefits, but a poor quest line imo sadly.

Get the mod for better standing stones and pick the mage stone at the beginning part. Gives you 100 extra magical and magicka regenerates %50 faster. You also learn all magic skills faster.

I also hope you have a spell scaling mod on, otherwise most spells start to feel useless as you level up

Yeah, you can make your own in the Midden, but it's not super great finding all the ingredients. Worth if you need free storm atronachs, though. Which you always do.

Yeah, if you're playing a mage in modded Skyrim and you don't have Apocalypse, gotta correct that asap.

Phenderix Magic is a good supplement, and both mods work well together (put Apo below Phen in your LO, with both at or near the top). Phen is less creative and more utilitarian than Apo, but it's a low file size and is still very useful.

Don't worry. Unless you're sticking to a specific build, eventually it turns into stealth archer. Then again everything does after a while.

If you're playing modded, either Apocalypse or Phenderix corrects this with higher-tier cone spells.

Yeah I have these installed. I also have a mod which adds an Iron Atronach. As for spell scaling, is there one for the Xbox?

I'm still rolling with the basic gear you grab in the beginning. (Well, I got the robes you get for choosing the Necromancer beginning in Alternate Start. Rocking that Novice Hood, tho. Also, FUCK BLACKREACH)

And yeah, didn't pick High Elf. Went with Breton for that freebie conjure familiar. Doing a Conjuration, Restoration, and Destruction build, then gonna branch out into the other magic schools.

Is it just me, or is that dual cast overcharge perk kinda useless in the early game? Sure it's powerful, but I'm losing a lot of magicka casting spells.

True, but thankfully the dlc and creation club have helped out with that a bit with ahzidal's ring of arcana and the new arcane accessories spells.

The rings fire spell can do huge damage when perked/used correctly, and some of the new spells are very strong compared to the vanilla spells.
