I paid like $35 a month on my 256gb 7 and am able to upgrade every year. With the 256gb X, my payment went to $48.

That's funny. So what does Apple do better than everything compared to Android? Speed tests? Several videos have shown that latest Androids are faster than the iPhone X. Camera quality? Refer back to the Pixel 2 phones being the best. Productivity? The Note 8 is the powerhouse.

Don't even talk about battery since iPhones are never known for that. Plus this:

But then they die like 2 days later

This phone is on life support now. Wifi, bluetooth, rear camera, and flash all don't work. So I still need to think of a game plan

i get what you're saying but all modern top of the line smartphones are already pushing like $800 on average. a 128gb Pixel 2 XL and Note 8 are both $950.

Pixel 2 128GB is $750, which is much better but still high.

That's the dog and pony show that marketing would lead you to believe. Both are easy to use, however iOS now feels restricted to me. All of the native customizability features of Android (at least on my Galaxy) are intuitive.

True. I've never owned an Android so my experiences with it have only been indirect. Every time I use one of my friends phone for something as simple as Spotify I'm like yuck.

1. Consistent update release schedule. iOS updates are available for (nearly) all iOS devices at the same time.

2. Better curation and QC compared to the Google Play store.

3. iOS ports of mobile apps/games are generally superior (more stable, get updated faster, have developer priority) than Android ports.

4. iMessage as a whole is vastly superior (and less confusing) than Google Hello/Allo/Hangouts/whatever yearly messaging system they try to push.

5. Doing a majority of normal, everyday tasks require less steps and taps than on Android.

Honestly at this point, buying any flagship smartphone will be fine, regardless of what it is. I was lucky enough to get an iPhone X for dirt cheap (due to a pricing error) and to be honest, it's nowhere worth $1,000.

6s works perfectly fine with all the apps etc. Picked it over a 7 after a 5 just because of the headphone jack issue and because of the reduced price.

Lost the Happy New Years etc. animations from iMessage; gained the ability to schedule/time texts, Smart Alert, and call up anybody I'm actively texting by bringing the phone to my ear.

Android is far too unstable for those outside casual people. Updates are all over the place and break things way too often, even on the Pixel line. Google is especially lazy about fixing tons of bugs that have been going on for years. I have every major Android, and it's such a mess between each phone.

Drive, Maps, Photos, Chrome, Play Store, Movies, Music, etc. There's threads with hundreds of people bitching and just some dude who barely speaks English going "we'll forward this to the right place". Some are from 2012.

It's weird that more care seems to go into iOS versions of Google's own apps. Lots of things have finally caught up on the Android version when you would expect the opposite.

I don't expect much from Google nowdays. I went through 5 Pixels, and it must have been the worst customer service experience from any company ever.

$750 compared to $1000 is already a huge difference. It can do the same amount of things for $250 cheaper. And besides, I don't treat my phone as if it was a mobile computer like millenials do.
