I'm at one of the biggest gay bars in the Bay area.

Walked outside to smoke and this guy did the have you been here before and I said I don't really like places like this.

Now I suppose I could have worded it better. What I meant was I don't like places with lights flashing and music blasting and crowded as all hell. I like small Irish bars with a joke box that plays low and a regular crowd.

He took off on me "you hate gays? Why are you here blah blah blah."

I ignore things well but he pushed me a few times and I was ready to crack him. Luckily. This place has as much security as anywhere I've ever been and they dragged him away.

Im not. I'm here with friends though. We're out for my buddies promotion. Night was wherever he wanted. We ended up at this bar because the chick he's into was hear with her gay coworkers.

Honest to God I don't mind the gay aspect but this isn't somewhere I'd have chose because I like being able to hear the people next to me.

I don't think that's a thing. I think he took what I said out of context and thought I was being homophobic.

If it's words I don't really care but someone starts touching me, especially more than once, the fight is on.

The guy was being an intolerant douche himself then and jumped too easily to the wrong conclusion.

Even some gay guys say they "don't like a place" and all they really meant was it wasn't a scene they were into or they didn't like the club atmosphere. None of that is homophobic even at a gay bar.

I've been to a. Half dozen gay bars dozens of times. This is the only time I've had a problem. I have good friends that are gay.

I went out of my way in this post to say I wasn't gay bashing. I had one bad experience with one gay person.

Seeing as it's dark in those pics, you must know exactly what you had in mind.

In SF there are so many areas that you could have just went a few blocks to a completely different vibe.

I totally get it now. If you go to a club grumpy, everyone can sense that vibe. So it might have been your tone more than what you said. No word like that could warrant violence tho.
Plus there's always this unusual vibe at some of the bigger gay clubs that makes me feel like some of the guys there are pushing for rank. Like they always wanna act alpha in front of straight men.

Im not really sure. I can't remember what exactly he said but it was something like "you come here a lot?" and me "no I hate places like this".

I definitely get what he was thinking it just wasn't what I meant at all. The whole thing probably lasted a minute. I'm glad I didn't hit him and that security was Johnny on the spot because as soon as it ended I completely understood what happened.

I don't think I was grumpy. Paid 20 bucks for a wristband that got drinks half off and this has never been my experience in the past. I've been there maybe half a dozen times and I've never been shy with dancing and hanging out but also telling people I'm straight. Never had a problem before.
