Square loves to announce shit way before it comes out, that is just how things work. I mean FF XV was really supposed to be FF XIII Versus but it took so long to make they just expanded it and made it a full fledged FF title.

Well, they tried getting other developers on board, including Cyber Connect, only for that to not go over well. Then they had to redo everything up to that point. And then it turned out that so many resources were being poured into KH3 that the VII remake won't even finish its first volume until after SE receives its first sum of money from KH3's sales.

The one thing I will also say about this is that so many people bought Playstation 4s just for the VII remake. Now it might, maybe, come out for the PS5. Unlike with Breath of the Wild, we won't see an older system release at that point.

I think it's probably both of those. Not to mention that it'll probably be overhyped to hell. And I don't think any game would be able to live up to the standards that this game will have due to it taking so long to come out.

I was thinking about this as well. I was graduating from high school when I played the first one, now I'm about to retire from my first career in a couple years.

Even back then the game was sort of riding on novelty rather than anything else that would normally make a game popular.

The dedicated fanbase is never the majority of sales for anything. I mean I have not played a good number of the KH spin-off games and I will still buy KH 3. It would be like claiming that everyone that goes to see the latest Star Wars film is a hardcore fan. It's been 8 years since a Mega Man game has come out and still I see people excited about Mega Man 11.

They probably know what to expect based on how well the 1.5 +2.5 collection on PS4 is selling and the 2.8 collection. I'd imagine sales will be higher than those collections though.

Disney too has grown with buying Marvel, Fox and Star Wars. In theory any of these could be added to Kingdom Hearts at some point. I mean they are already starting to add Pixar in Kingdom Hearts 3. Besides I play Kingdom Hearts games for the nostalgia trip when visiting most worlds.

When the Toy Story KH3 trailer was shown off at D23 last year, it was the most hyped thing at the whole event. I think there's still plenty of interest in Kingdom Hearts.

I kinda don't wanna rebuy a lot of them, to be honest. Me, personally. I own a good amount of them. And they're fun. But most of them I could just play on an older system without wasting money. I can see why some may like it, though. Especially if they haven't played them. I'll get 3 and just be lost. Haha.

Edit: Also, how did they fix it? Because I remember those games leaving me more confused. Did they just add more story or something?

Birth by Sleep, Dream Drop Distance and Birth by Sleep: A fragmentary passage are important when going into Kingdom Hearts 3. That's if you care about the story at all of course. Still if anyone is inclined to buy them you're only buying two games in theory as the 1.5+2.5 collection is all in one package now.

With all that said Kingdom Hearts 3 apparently is still coming out on Xbox One without these collections being available on that platform so no doubt Kingdom Hearts 3 will have a little movie recapping things.

Oh. Then I'd probably still be confused. I've play a good portion of them(the spin-offs). And the more games I played, the more confused I became. Replaying them would just replay the confusion. Haha. The gameplay is fun, though. So, I guess I'll be fine since I'm not interested in the story as much anymore. Maybe if I have some extra play money, I may get them, but...

Yeah, I bought the first collection on PS4 but just haven't gotten around to playing it, with how many games were in the middle there I imagine KH 3 will explain quite a bit to help those that didn't take the time to play every handheld game. I mean its been so long that even those that played each of those games on release day may have trouble remembering every little thing when Kh3 comes out.
