Timing, enormous amount of secondary gain, and the fact that she dropped allegations when challenged are what make me skeptical.

The problem was ultimately that she was young and stupid, and record labels are predatory against talent. That resulted in her signing some impossibly long contract (something like 12 albums) that would basically span her entire career. She signed her soul to the label, and then was pissed after she got her 15 minutes of fame that she didn't have total control over her career. I would have taken her side if she had simply come out, explained how trapped she was, and tried to bargain her way out in good faith. Taking the nuclear option and trying to fake a scandal, though... after that I'm fine with her never making another album again, and she deserves the end of her career.

if you know you have no chance of winning a legal battle (which, against a major record label with millions its difficult), not putting yourself through the financial burden makes sense. she didn't "drop all allegations" she dropped the fight of breaking out of the contract.

She didn't drop the allegations. The rape charge was outside the statute of limitations and the court couldn't pursue it

On April 6, 2016, New York Judge Shirley Kornreich dismissed Kesha's claims of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and gender violence. "While Kesha's [claim] alleges that she was sexually, physically and verbally abused by Gottwald for a decade, she describes only two specific instances of physical/sexual abuse," Kornreich wrote. And the most recent event described was alleged to have happened in 2008 and so falls outside of the statute of limitations.

See point about timing. Only brings it up after the label stops making records with her and she's trying to find a contract elsewhere.

he could easily just rape one person and keep it to that, so that he doesn't spread a rumor about mass rapes. and then everyone takes his side. he gets his jollies and gets to try out rape, and he doesn't lose his reputation cause he knows the world will believe him over his victim
