If it is fair to say "don't call yourself white trash just because you engage in certain activities that are frowned upon by many and are attributed to white people, whether accurately or through misrepresentation," it should be equally fair to say the exact same thing but with 'white trash' and 'white' substituted by 'thug' and 'black' and with emphasis on the bolded section in all cases.
