Walmart employs 1 million hourly employees.

But the vast majority aren't full time and hours adjust by how busy it is. Meaning you could gain or lose over a dozen hours every single week. Given mandatory minimum hours based on status and that goes away but Wal-Mart won't do that.

What? 20 damn years is a long time. If you can't work somewhere 20 years and get promoted at least one damn time, you're probably not giving a damn.

Most associates who have that gold badge have run the gamut. They're either upper management, have been literally everything in the company and have "retired" to a simple position, or are literally store institutions who have been the face/voice of walmart for ten of those years. Turning your nose up at a bonus is asinine, especially when it's one that's not expected.

That sound great until you consider the extra hundreds of millions going into the company itself rather then the employees. And no I don't expect them to get every dime of the cuts but I got to imagine its at least 200 million that employees aren't going to see a cent of. But I'm not a financial expert so I'll leave it to them to do a report on it.

May be a zero-sum, given the huge windfall Walmart gains from the corporate income tax dropping 40%.

If I cluelessly base the numbers on just profit:

In its fiscal year ended Jan. 31, 2017, Wal-Mart had profit of $13.6 billion on worldwide revenue of $485.9 billion.

...that's a tax savings of nearly two billion.

Yeah... I got nuthin.

Apart from, I guess, when Sam's Club started twenty or thirty years ago, the locations were kinda out of the way. Nowadays, they're either right next to a Wal-Mart, or across the street.

Trump supporters have a really bad case of tunnel vision. They refuse to look at the whole picture and only what makes their narrative work.

For example, they want to attribute the bad things going on to leftover Obama policies while all the good things are things Trump did. Even if Trump hasn't actually done anything in that direction, his presence magically altered the world.

Pushing for giant corporations is speeding us towards automation more than anything else. A minimum wage hike hurts them more than anyone. Small businesses suffer low margins specifically because they hurt for customers due to inflation and having to compete with things like Walmart.

Not that its a bad thing. Well have needed a universal basic income before long anyway. This is just how things progress in our economic system.

Most Cashiers at Walmart would rather stand around and do other things than checkout a line of people. I also have used the self order kiosk at McDonald's and was thanked by the Cashier since he had stuff to clean in the lobby. It's a real advancement that I welcome.
