I frequently post on a gaming message board known as Current Events from GameFAQ
It's a frustrating experience.
I'm sure a handful of you have heard of GameFAQs, and perhaps even Current Events (CE). While I love posting on that board and I am undeniably loved by most there, there's still a ton of bullshit on that board that really pisses me off.
The first, and perhaps biggest, is a user known as vegy. He goes by a variety of different usernames, all of which include vegeta or vegy in some way. He's been on the board for nearly 10 some years now. He harasses any women that post there, belittles women in general and treats them like objects, intentionally types like a child (uses dis instead of this, dose instead of those, dese instead of these, dat instead of that, etc.) Almost every single post he makes is specifically cultivated to be annoying, and he only has a small handful of topics he makes over and over.
The worst part? He is generally well liked. It blows my mind. Part of me thinks everyone is used to him posting there and has come to accept the fact that he will never leave, so they "like" him to tolerate the boards better.
Another user, known as Duckbear AKA Full Throttle, is infamous as he's been there since ~2000/2001. A troll that's been around for 15+ years. Think about that for a second. He does the same stuff over and over. He takes articles from dailymail (a tabloid web site, not legitimately news), types up the article in his poorly proofread, race/sex racebaiting way, intentionally misleading and trolling nonstop. He's been moderated multiple times and yet he's still here. He's living proof that the moderation system on that site is complete and utter bullshit.
He's also infamous on YouTube as mrduckbear and he was banned from IGN's boards.
Third, a user known as brootz, Brutal, BrutalDeluxe, TheFireRises, and possibly many more. He is a legitimate criminal who should be in jail. He is similar to vegy with the harassing of women, yet he takes it further as he has been proven to have harassed users he doesn't like before. He buys games for girls on the board, follows them around, harasses them and he even self admits to being a pathetic alcoholic user but then keeps doing it. Oddly most of the girls encourage it, but perhaps it's because they enjoy the attention they can't get elsewhere? Why else would they put up with illegal behavior? He even harassed a girl on the board that was underage at the time. Talk about creepy.
Finally, a user known as goatthief. He takes obsessed to the extreme. He has been proven to keep spreadsheets of users, keeping track of their karma (GameFAQs has karma, we get 1 per day and we can lose it to moderations) to see if he has gotten them modded by marking their posts for moderator review. He follows users, keeps tabs on users, and has even joined my private board pretending to be a friend in order to take screenshots, "expose" us by posting those screenshots out of context. I've never seen a user so obsessed before. He has a topic series on CE where he keeps track of everyone who is currently in trouble with the mods.
I just needed to vent. While I love CE and I generally am pretty popular there, it isn't without its flaws like any community.
