Because the conversation of her running exists, TC is using that to shift to a discussion that is not at all predicated on the assumption she will run.
You will notice no one even brought up anything related to politics until chill got all uppity because he's fallen for his own fearmongering.

Because the conversation of her running exists, TC is using that to shift to a discussion that is not at all predicated on the assumption she will run.
You will notice no one even brought up anything related to politics until chill got all uppity because he's fallen for his own fearmongering.

Comparing them at all puts them in the same arena and legitimizes Oprah as a candidate you'd vote for. She's a better person than Trump, therefore she would make a better president. That's basically how this entire conversation works.

If politics isn't related at all to this conversation then the entire thing loses all context and relevancy. You may as well asking asking whether Mickey Mouse or Steve Buscemi would be better at mini golf.

I mean, you're the one making that assumption yourself just because you've deluded yourself into thinking there's a chance she would run and that people actually support the idea. Neither of these are true.
But the fact of the matter is the conversation exists, which gives us reason to compare them in other fields unrelated to such matters. I mean, if the question was "Is Oprah more attractive than Trump" would you still be whining about an Oprah presidency?

No I don't think she will run in the slightest, but I also really dislike this idea of propping up various celebrities as the next presidential candidate. It's a bad way to go and I'll call it out every time I see it.

That's the difference here. Regardless of whether Oprah will run or not, people seem to think she would make a good candidate and are discussing the notion seriously.

I mean, there is no serious support of a potential run being lobbied in that article. You have one joke tweet that was removed, and a bunch of people warning against dismissing the idea of Oprah going all the way should she run (putting a pretty heavy emphasis on the "should she".) Then the article simply dissects the possibilities on both sides should she run (again, emphasis on the "should she"), while stating multiple times she won't.
Again, the common theme here is "It's not going to happen."

I think the common theme here is that people are discussing this en masse, which means that even if Oprah never runs for presidency, we're kind of living in a time where everyone is just throwing out guesses as to which celebrity will be next. It's pretty bad in general and especially hypocritical of democrats, considering one of the main criticisms for Trump in the hotseat was that he's not qualified.

It's not some recent phenomenon. Celebrities talk and joke about running for office all the time, and some even do. Hell, people have been talking about Oprah running for years.

That said, Oprah will only be a moderate improvement. She may have business acumen (come to think of it, certainly a nice change from drumpf there too) but if anything we've clearly shown that potus needs to be someone that has been involved with politics and world events their whole career.
