It was like 80% social/political commentary with some light jokes sprinkled in. Like what he was saying was fine and all but it's not exactly what I was expecting or wanting. Closing the show with talking about Emmet Till for example, that's not exactly what I'm watching a stand up special for...

I never really got into Chapelle, but I remember being pretty disappointed with the last special.

I enjoyed it overall, I just felt like for large sections the jokes took a backseat to the point he was trying to make, which throughout we're pretty surface level and what I and presumably most of his audience already think anyways.
Plus with the way he starts it off talking about how easy it is for him to write jokes, you'd figure there'd be more of his older style of longer, denser jokes that have a slow payoff.

I laughed a lot, but not nearly as much as the first two, or any of his older stuff.

No, he's never spent like 80% of the time talking about sociopolitical issues with jokes being sprinkled in. He usually just tells jokes and would sometimes sprinkle in sociopolitical issues.

Hell no. Killing Them Softly and For What it's Worth were hilarious and had barely and social commentary.

The bit about the homeless dude jacking off on the public bus was genius.

I wanted more of his older dense joke with satisfying punchlines. I just got bored having my own politics repeated back to me for a solid portion of it and feel like it was wasted time for panning out jokes. I can understand why he felt the need to say all of it, but he didn't really have much to say past the surface level so it really just slowed the roll of the show imo.

Well to be fair, I am sick to death of politics, so yeahhhh I don't necessarily want to see it stand up either. I just thought it was funny the way he handled it.
