I agree with some of this although it's a bit exaggerated. The majority of young women are attracted to confident behaviour but many mistake external arrogance with inner confidence. By roughly their mid 20's their perception begins to shift and being a nice guy begins to pay off for you. Of course I'm hugely generalising here.

Think about what gets your heart racing.

Is it when you talk to a boring female friend about the weather? Nope. It's that lingering eye contact. That smile. A flirty line that replays in your head. The feeling of recognizing signs that this girl finds me attractive.

A lot of 'nice guys' don't seem to consider this thing. For some reason they think persistent boredom is the way to go. It has nothing to do with being nice.

You can't divide people in nice and not nice categories. That guy you think is an asshole could very well treat his girlfriend like a Queen.

I recommend the online dating or connections with friends. Maybe a friend of one of your friends is/knows a girl that is single. Having a common friend helps eliminate a bit of awkwardness and makes you two not complete total strangers. Also gives you two plenty to talk about, people that are friends generally share similar opinions, hobbies and interests.
