I have directv. I have the basic package for $60 a month. It only gives me trouble when the weather is bad. But it has to be really really bad.

Unless you're physically changing locations, I wouldn't do this. Satellite internet is terrible compared to cable.

That said, Dish used to be the best but I think things changed when AT&T bought Direct TV.

Just review the prices and your needs. I used to work for Dish and we had pamphlets with the pricing structure of the other companies. Dish was less expensive than Direct on 3 tvs or less. Once you got over that though the prices became very competitive.

The real issue is that Direct hires semi top tier actors to be in their commercials. They also have the Sunday Ticket on contract so that no other company can have it. They payed something like 15 million to renew the contract for 2 or 3 years back in 2015. The problem is that a very small percentage of Direct TVs customers buy the sunday ticket (at something like 400$ for the season). That cost for having the Sunday Ticket and the expensive commercials come back on all their customers in the form of higher prices.

Also, I'm not sure how sales works at Direct but Dish has to be completely upfront with you about what your paying for as well as read you a complete disclaimer about what you just signed up for and how your bill will change once your promotional rates are over. If the agent lies at any point during the fully recorded phone call they lose the credit for that sale.

Also, Dish has the Hopper. Their cable box. It won Consumer Electronc Expo (CES) best in show award two years in a row. Its a pretty spiffy item. Plus, since Dish owns Sling, they give you the best away from home tv experience being able to live stream all of your channels to your phone or tablet at no extra cost (as long as you have the hopper). Other companies (like direct) charge you an extra fee for that ability AND only let you stream a limited amount of channels.

If you're a football fan you have to go with Directv. Otherwise it's pretty much the same shit.

Sling tv is pretty great if your internet is good. It's cheap, you don't need installation, and you can pick and choose which stations/packages you want. I'm paying $30 /month with the ability to stream in two rooms at a time. Look into it at least.

Not true for everyone. I get Sunday ticket through the NFL app on my Xbox One and I get the NFL Network through Sling (also on Xbone.)

I have DirecTV, but strictly only for television purposes.

I'll take a wired internet connection any day of the week.

Um, Sunday Ticket only costs $200 per season. I've had it on Directv since 2000 and on Xbone the last 3 years. Price hasn't changed. I dropped Directv because of all their bs. I can get every channel I watched on Sling, hulu, and HBOGO. Just sayin.
