I fucking loved it

I know a lot of people had issues with it, but goddamn

this was definitely a game made for Sonic fans. Not the "only 1-3 games were good" Sonic fans but the ones that accept it for the edgy messy franchise it is

Visuals were gorgeous, music was amazing, and I loved Infinite as a villain. It honestly seems like the whole thought process behind him was just "how can we do someone like Shadow but WAY edgier"

Now admittedly the game falls short a little at the end (Infinite is just kind of defeated somehow because Sonic smacks into him enough, despite him basically being all powerful?)

It's not quite at the level of Sonic Generations, mostly due to the stages not having their as much of their own identities/replayability, but it's probably my favorite Sonic game since

Can't wait to see what Sonic Team does next

oh btw here's my Sonic oc

Played this on a friend's account and beat it in 3 hours - its not bad but I'm definitely glad I didn't pay for it.

All the avatar stuff is ridiculously fun to mess around with but overall the stages are just way, way too short. Also it feels like the new physics engine they made for this game completely ruined jumping, I can't remember the last time I had to fight with controls this much in a platformer. That whole issue is multiplied in Classic Sonic's stages, since for whatever reason he just generally controls like a ton of bricks compared to his Generations incarnation.

All that being said, I still don't think it's a bad game - the visuals are definitely great, there are some really fun moments and the music (especially in the Avatar stages) is outstanding. I'd love to see what this approach could produce with more time, thought and effort put in to the game.

My friends and I were all rolling with laughter at how pathetically/abruptly the final fight against Infinite ends. You get that hype of the boost build up and then he just unceremoniously flops over instantly. XD

Yeah I had that same reaction. I feel like they built Infinite up so much they couldn't figure out a way to reasonably beat him so they're like "fuck it, sonic runs into him and he falls over"

I do definitely agree the levels could've been longer, and I feel like that kind of goes into the identity of the stages

like in Generations, I replayed the levels so many times, even after getting all the red rings, because it was so much fun to explore all the different paths (Seaside Hill in particular)

I do really like that they kept that multiple path thing in Sonic Forces, even if they weren't all as fleshed out as I might've hoped

I thought that was the point. Ultimately Infinite was just some edgelord who was given hax powers yet still somehow managed to suck all while using the edgiest persona he could come up with. Heck Sonic didn't even have to go Super Sonic to beat him (and that could have been a cool boss fight if they had fun with how his powers worked and maybe have him fuck with your video settings or some other weird shit)

The reveal of his "backstory" from the dlc and the comic make it even more comical just how shallow his motivations are

Then again, knowing Sonic Team, they probably actually intended to play him totally straight and it wasn't just some parody...

Well at least he has a fun theme!

I always preferred Modern Sonic. I'm probably alone here on this but I enjoyed my time with it more than I did with Mania.

I just need Sonic with butt rock and vocal OST.

I really enjoyed the game, it's a mess but it's a fun mess. I love 3D Sonic games and the awful fanbase and the dumb lore. I know it's not for everyone and I know it's objectively bad.

I'm right there with you. Honestly Mania was a little disappointing. Like the music and design of everything was great but it was too stuck in nostalgia, which led to it not recognizing/fixing the things wrong with old Sonic (super limited lives that send you back way too far, true ending locked behind one-shot minigames)
