What do you think?

Considering our current President openly talked about the last President that way, it is a current event.

Yes. It's a huge deal. You can't be a President who was born overseas. It's also pretty racist to assume that about the first African-American President.

It shouldn't matter. Obama could be a Kenyan or a Muslim and it shouldn't make a bit of difference.

I guess that stuff matters quite a bit to a lot of people though. They came out in droves to vote for Trump.

No. It was absolutely 100% racial based by people that didn't like the fact that the president was black, zero exceptions whatsoever. If you kept absolutely everything the same about him, but instead his name was Barry O'Brien II and his deadbeat dad was an Irish national instead, there would've been no birther conspiracy.

And it's all the more idiotic, as being an American is like being Jewish. If you are birthed from an American mother, you're a natural born citizen regardless of where you're born. So, even if he was born overseas for whatever idiotic reason that never made any sense, he still would've been a natural born citizen.

There was no basis to it, and I'm sure a lot of people pushed it just because they hated Obama, but I think some were also confused since Obama lived in Indonesia for a few years when he was a small child so some could think he might've been born there, and others might have thought his dad being Kenyan somehow means he might've been born in Kenya.

Common theme. America follows the one-drop rule when it comes to African Americans in every circumstance, except when they're accomplished and then folks are quick to point out they're part white.

It's a distinction without a difference in the US. What drinking fountains do you think he would have used under Jim Crow? Yes, it's true, but you are saying it like it matters when it doesn't.

It was some absurdly stupid shit from the beginning.

But it's probably for the best that some morons obsessed over it, because at least they were wasting their time on something that was never going to work. Think about it - they could've been doing things that would have made an impact.
