The Final Door... well this is an interesting turn. I haven't mentioned this before, but the shifting of how the character portraits are displayed is pretty neat. Like Door 7 had these big, almost framed portraits and now this door has almost a Final Fantasy look to them and the dialog display.

Although at this point, I have to take Morgana's side here: I can't imagine there being anything that could redeem these three men or what they did to her. I'm not sure what kind of crazy storytelling will have to take place for what Michel wants to happen to occur.

So after playing a bit more, here's my theory: Being able to change the future would be amazing (although, even IF Michel succeeded his life would still be terrible since his horrors had nothing to do with Morgana which is a bit bittersweet for him to go through all this for nothing in return), so it's not going to happen. It's too nice of an ending. Michel has already said something is "off" about this place, so I'm assuming it is all a reconstruction of that time which is why he can walk around and interact. If he succeeds in freeing the young Morgana, this won't change the future BUT it will show the real Morgana the other side of the story which will be enough to calm her.

That being said, this part has been very good so far. I quite like the sense of hope it has, even if it's fake.

Of course, it turns out I was right. Michel never went into the past. That was all to too easy, too happy. And there is no happiness to be found in this story. I think I have to stop here, for now.

I lied. I went ahead and finished the story.

So, like, OK. Let me first say this.

I was pretty mad until right at the very end. Michel, the greatest man to ever live, my new favorite VN character, almost did everything for everyone and got nothing.... is what it looked like at first. Let's just say I'm glad I waited until the credits were done.

Everything from the last door onward was really well done. The events in the door were interesting, the stories (especially the Lord's) were surprising and everything after that was so good. Of course, I say that NOW knowing Michel got his happy ending. I was on pins a needles through most of it, thinking nothing good could come of any of it. I'm happy to see Michel's brothers both were punished for what they did AND got a somewhat decent reunion with Michel.

Still though, I can't get rid of the feeling of being unsatisfied that Michel's parents, and ESPECIALLY Aimee, got away with what they did. I know it's in the past, and that those events even to Michel don't matter as much. But damn it, it matters to ME that those people never got what was coming to them! I can't let it go.

I'm actually glad that, in the end, Morgana could not forgive the three men for what they did. It felt very real, that she could learn to somewhat sympathize with their lives but could not look past what they did. I guess my opinions line up with her's on that one, which is why I like that detail so much.

That was a great VN, and I'm very happy I got to experience it.

I really relate to this. I binged the whole VN in a single weekend because I just couldn't stand letting that feeling linger. I think it's a testament to the quality of the story that I needed to finish it and see if there would be a happy ending. Thankfully, there was, and it was excellent!

I'm glad you enjoyed Fata Morgana. It's easily one of my favorite VNs.

FYI, there is still stuff to check out after beating the game.

1) The translated lyrics for the vocals used in the VN (which are in the "Music" section in the game)

2) Secret prologue after clearing all 8 endings (someone made a guide on how to get this on Steam)

3) Check out the backstage (and watch as the fourth wall shatters into pieces)

Then laugh at the estimated release date of the fandisk they gave us at the end and join us in the wait lol (Man, I can't wait for 2016...)

I do intend on checking out the extra stuff, though I heard the endings weren't worth going back for

It's referring to the demo's own backstage. I believe you can still download that demo on Mangagamer's website.

OK, the part of the extras where Michel gets to confront Aimee, tell her off and gets to show how much happier he is now, and Morgana calls her the worst person in the story was pretty gratifying.

Also, there's a collected version on the Vita, and that version contains a new section set in modern day? With new sprites and voice acting?

Apparently the flashbacks of Jacopo and Morgana wasn't the whole story. Remember the mysterious letter Maria found in the cellar in Door 3? That was never brought up again and I have a feeling it's an important plot point in the fandisk.

And yeah, there are rumors of the Vita version being localized. The voice acting is for the modern-day epilogue only.

Yeah, that makes sense.

What doesn't make sense is this apparent japanese fan poll of the characters, and JACOPO won? Over my Main Man Mikey "Arkangel" Brolinger? I don't think so

Giselle was my favorite, though Michel was a close second. Morgana would probably be third. Jacopo belongs somewhere near the bottom.

Also, I didn't know there was more Fata Morgana on the horizon! I'm going to have to watch that video and look into it when I get home from work.

Seriously though, Jacopo actually feels like a good deconstruction of your typical tsundere; he's an extreme example of how the inability to communicate your true feelings to those you love is a serious personality flaw and can have truly disastrous real-life consequences. I absolutely cannot stand how this trait is depicted as cute and adorable in most Japanese media.

He has a cool theme, though

You know I was thinking, that one kid who helped out Pauline in Book 2. Like isn't it weird he got his own sprite but never really came back? Other side characters who were only important in one, or even multiple doors in the case of Antonin or the village leader never got one.

I think the mirror doesn't reflect the image of those who don't remember their original identity. That's why both of them don't have a reflection.

Thats the craziest thing Ive ever heard , and I heard this story about a man who destroyed a rose garden just to put a bunch of gears there to spite his wife
