They are reflex sights. Been around since the 40's.

The idea of attaching a reflector sight to a firearm has been around since its invention in 1900.[10] Soon after World War II models appeared for rifles and shotguns including the Nydar shotgun sight (1945),

Soon after World War II models appeared for rifles and shotguns including the Nydar shotgun sight (1945)

And yes they did have them in Call of Duty World at War... on an aircraft in one mission where it was actually accurate.

And regardless, they were extremely uncommon. Just because it technically exists doesn't mean it's fitting. We all know these were added because they had to cater to the kids who are used to them in the modern/future CoDs.

That's definitely not true. It's a case by case basis, not always.

This is how I feel about it. I don't expect the 30th Call of Duty game to be historically accurate. CoD is like the fast food of video games. It's not bad, but it's not the best thing ever either. It gets the job done.

It's just annoying because older CoD games were not like this. The last World War 2 COD was not like this.

They really screwed up a lot of shit just to impress a bunch of teens and teach them how to misuse the phrase "boots on ground" and make them feel accomplished by "playing the game that returns the series to its roots".

What's funny is that this was my main criticism a decade ago with WaW and now it's relevant again.

They really should just remaster the original COD with United Offensive. I'd be all over that.
