Me and my friend both got Christmas presents for each other, but so far, we haven't been able to exchange them yet. Last night, he asked when my next day off was, and I was like, "Tomorrow." So today, we were supposed to give each other gifts.

There was a plan for him to come over around 10:00, but he texted and said he felt super sick. I asked if he wanted to do this another day and he said, "No, today's the last day of December."

But it sounded like he was pretty sick, so I was like, "We could always do it another day. It's fine." and he said, "But the presents..."

So I sent him a picture of what I had gotten him. It was a quick, impromptu pic. I said, "The presents will be waiting here for you."



I remember thinking, "Something about this doesn't look that good, but... I'm not sure what else I could do." before sending it.

About an hour or so later, he sent this back:



Holy shit.

That's beautiful. It looks amazing. Added ribbons, and bows... and even the backdrop looks nicer. Carpeting, using the wrapping paper itself as a background... He even added nametags! I actually remember thinking to myself, "Should I add nametags to my presents? ...nah, he'd probably ask why I bothered doing that when there's only one person I'm giving them to." And I took a picture of two presents, he took a picture of three!

I wish I had half the creativity that he did, and did something wonderful for his presents. ;_; I should've gotten another present, but I didn't know what. My presents look like shit. They're not even wrapped well. I wonder if I can still get ribbons and bows... Well, if he saw them on the presents now, he'd know I only did this after seeing his picture.

He put way more thought and effort and creativity into his presents than I did. I'm a fucking piece of shit. It's no wonder nobody can stand me. Why am I so disappointing? This friendship's probably not going to last much longer now. He probably likes me a lot less now. Not that he did in the first place, but even less so now.

No, he has a girlfriend, sadly. Well, "sadly" for me. He, on the other hand, is the happiest he's ever been in his life, and I want him to be happy, so that's good.

It's not that trivial. I mean, I was reminded of how judgmental humans are just being on CE today. Any little thing you do can disappoint someone. You think he's not disappointed with what he saw? Thinks less of me and likes me less now?
