The $20 chandon Brut should be fine. I had some two weeks ago and it was p good for the price. With it being NYE you might be able to grab a bottle for little less even on sale.

I prefer the fancier stuff like veuve but for $20 you'll do ok with Chandon.

Eh, it's new years. Go for Moet & Chandon Rose. Girls love that one in my experience (it's one of my girlfriends favorites in the midrange) and it's only about 40-50 depending on store. Bottle comes in a fancy looking box too.

Though TheDarkCircle gives a great suggestion if you're firm on your price point

she gets weird when I spend much money on her. doesn't like it.

This is great advice as well. A great pink champagne which is always fun. Also if you do go into that price point and want a traditional champagne veuve clicquot can't be beat.

Pick one of those suggestions, and you'll do just fine. Enjoy man!

Any real champagne is going to have high standards of quality control but I remember going cheaper with a fruit sparkling wine. Something strawberry or raspberry. No brands really. Get something ~$15-20
