Humans are apex predators no need to keep an eye out.

no

no we are decidedly not

literally so many things can kill us that we aren't even able to be aware of

take a bear, for instance. their only predator is us

us, our predators are ourselves, insects, bears, tigers, any apex predator really, rodents, ect.

you know what happens if a python bites a honey badger? it sleeps.

if a python bites us, we're fucking dead

you know what happens if we get shot? we bleed out.

you know what happens if a bear gets shot? it still mauls us to death because it's a bear

we can't even fight a gorilla, out ancestors. our only weapon of use is a gun, which unless you critically wound one of these animals, they're still going to destroy you easily

I mean... I've seen a video where a lion took like 6 blasts from 6 different shotguns/rifles and still managed to tackle a guy before wandering off and slowly dying. Obviously if you had a .50BMG minigun you would be OK, but it was pretty terrifying seeing it take all 6 rounds and still almost kill that guy with full ferocity.

animals have no concept of "i just got fucking shot, i need to fucking hide."

to them it's "this fucker attacked me, this is now a fight to the death"

also sharks. our only defense of sharks is to not get in the ocean, or get in the ocean in a bigass cage that they could still actually break through

Mosquitos are vector organisms. They can transmit diseases to you, but they themselves don't actually kill you.

Ticks are parasites. They don't kill you eother, but can transmit diseases to you. In fact, it is in a tick's best interest to keep you alive so that it can keep feeding off of you.

Fly? Gotta be more specific to get a more in depth reply. Flys don't actively hunt people though

I assume because it's efficient for facial muscles to blink simultaneously and because we don't blink very long. The better question is why haven't creatures evolved past a need for sleep?

what predators

idk, according to feminists, 1-in-4 men is a sexual predator. Certainly need to keep an eye out there.

you should test it out for a proof of concept

so go shoot a bear, a lion, and a shark

You forget that fundamentally humans are pack hunters. Before guns we had no problem hunting with spears for the most part. Sure a lone human isn't winning with no weapons against another apex predator. Every now and then you see a Lion get mauled by their prey. That doesn't make Lions any less apex and their prey are now predators.

it has to provide a selection pressure. if it were actually effective to do that, then one-eyed blinking (assuming it could manifest in the first place) would be selected for. two-eye blinkers would have a higher death rate than one-eye blinkers and would eventually be replaced by them.
