Started off amazing with a blast of nostalgia and I marked out hard for the Mean Bean Machine boss battle.

I really wish they picked the bonus stages from Sonic 2 instead of those god damn infuriating Sonic 3 red and blue ball ones.

Loved seeing some classic bosses back like Mecha Sonic and that purple guy with the hat I remember from the comics.

I found surprisingly few bonus rings in the game. Ended up with only 2 emeralds and probably found around 5 rings only. Pretty disappointed as I used to be great at finding those.

The newer levels did seem weaker than the classic remixes and that's a shame. Some of the enemies were just annoying and the last stage or two were just tedious at times.

Still, huge fan of the first 3 games and it was a lot of fun overall. Wouldn't make my GOTY list, but I do feel like I'll go back and play it again sometime soon.

I was thinking about getting this on Switch. And whaaat, you don't like blue sphere? I love that even as it's own game.

I replayed some of Sonic 3 and Knuckles recently so I think I'll get Mania at some point

It's a bit overrated. I'm sure Sega feels the same way, otherwise this game would've come with a nice, shiny platinum to go along with it. I watched The Completionist a.k.a Jabroni Jirard, SomeCallMeJohnny and AntDude's reviews for it and was personally embarrassed by the amount of schilling those 3 dumbasses did. Like holy shit, morons. What the hell ever happened to the fair and impartial thing?

There are a few not-so-great zones, but the same could be said of any sonic game. Sonic mania is awesome and one of the most heart-filled retro throwback games I can think of in a sea of uninspired soulless ones.

Sonic 2s bonus stages are annoying and already overdone in so many games. Im glad they didnt go back to that for the 500th time.
