Only $30 to get the product you bought.

Now watch it have nothing to do with the battery at all.

For a year, too. It will likely go back to full pricing after that, I assume they're hoping the controversy will die down.

No more iPhones for me, this was the final nail in the coffin of a company that doesn't deserve your support.

AIM replaced SMS texting. Blackberry Messenger replaced AIM. iMessage replaced BBM. Something will replace iMessage soon enough. Don't feel trapped.

It's definitely inconvenient but I'm sick of paying providers just to send messages anyway when I can do the same over various apps just using an internet connection.

That's the strangehold that Apple has on you though. They're banking on you never defecting simply because of iMessage.

Facebook messenger seems to be gaining steam as well. I notice more and more friends texting me through it.

Switched from my iPhone 6 Plus to Galaxy S8 Plus last month.

My 6 Plus would have qualified for this battery replacement deal, however I had already replaced it earlier in the year. The battery life after replacing it STILL wasn't as good as it was when my 6 Plus was mint, so I'm going to assume that my CPU performance was still somewhat compromised.

As for iMessage, I missed it for maybe like half a day. The amount of features my S8 Plus has is mind boggling - I realized just yesterday that I can auto call the person I'm texting just by bringing the phone to my ear.

Are there even plans without unlimited texting anymore? Even the $35/mo StraightTalk plan has unlimited talk and text.

We only needed messaging apps like imessage because carriers were charging for texting. That's not the case anymore unless you have a terrible plan. If your plan has a texting limit, you need a new carrier.

It isn't so much a need based around unlimited texting, it's that iMessage is a native texting application, it's widely used in the U.S. especially among the people I know, and the features are universal to all iMessage users.

Didn't Apple say that the bug was dropped on iOS 10.2.X? IIRC, it wasn't introduced on iOS 11. My former 6 Plus was 10.3.X, so it had it.

As soon as couple friends of mine left the US, we all hopped on Whatsapp. And my extended family uses Whatsapp to keep in contact with one another as well.

There is an issue of no one I know using Android and everyone I know using iOS therefore making iMessage the best for my use case. Further, I want my MMS to be native and not use a bunch of different apps, especially WhatsApp.

There is a native stock Android messaging app - Google Messenger. I'm not sure what you're trying to say - the only major difference between iMessage and GM is that iMessage makes other iMessage users' text boxes blue because they'd like to remind you that you didn't pay for the text you just sent (which you had unlimited of anyway)

After 10.2.1 your phones are already throttled by the battery. Ignoring updates won't do anything lol

What's wrong with Whatsapp that it triggers you so much?

It's owned by Facebook and I will not have any Facebook-owned apps on my phone. Further I do not know a single person that uses WhatsApp.

Lmao what's wrong with Apps owned by Facebook? Are you one of those tinfoil hat wearing people who thinks he's worth being spied on?

It is more about the fact that I do not know a single person that uses WhatsApp and everyone I know uses iMessage.

The issue with Facebook-owned apps is the retargeting abilities that are granted to advertisers through it. I have some reasons why I don't want to be retargeted via Facebook (work related).

You don't need to change anything. iMessage can send and receive SMS and MMS.

Should be a pretty open and shut case if you're that invested in iMessage. Gotta do what's best for you.

Me personally, I couldn't care less about my texts appearing as green bubbles on my friends' iPhones. The other features of iMessage are duplicated with other apps, so I'm not missing anything.
