.....to use voice prompts? Idk it seems more and more, now maybe most want you to use voice prompts and don't have you press buttons on your phone to choose options. Why are they doing this? Does anybody prefer to use their voice?

I work in a call center, so all damn day I have to hear people complain about the automated system. It's not going away, it saves companies money, I have no control over it, we've all filed literally millions of complaints, so I really wish people would stfu about it

You can check your balance, transfer funds, order checks, go over recent activity etc all over the automated line. If we don't offer that service, those people are talking to consultants, who are more expensive to hire and train than a robot.

Believe it or not, a lot of people actually prefer the automated line. I used to do a job there called harvest, creepy I know, where customers who frequently used the automated line were randomly pulled so that we could talk to them and see if we can sell them on anything. A lot of them would specifically ask just to be transferred back to the line. It was so unpopular of a practice, because these people preferred the automated system so much, that we did away with the position so I switched to another department.

If you use the automated system, you don't need as many people working the lines.

That being said, I usually like automated systems for paying certain bills when I can. But... they are times when I have to speak to a person. Mostly because it's something I can do on the phone. And they make it pretty hard to reach them.

I know. The only thing they're really accomplishing is making my day more irritating.

I usually don't complain to the actual businesses or people on the phone or whatever. But it is nice to complain to other people. Like people on their board. Especially if they feel the same. Haha.

One time, I had to talk to a real person. While trying to fumble my way through the automated message, I kept trying different menus. Then it just said goodbye and hung up on me. Had to call again. Kinda ridiculous. Why don't they just set up an automated message where it's not impossible to just hit a button to talk to real person. Some places have them, but a lot don't...
