Maybe go for shorter books you can read in a single sitting when you have a couple hours of free time.

Don't read just to read. Read shit that actually engages you.

Don't read anything you don't enjoy.

Reading books for 'fulfillment' is a farce.

what qualifies something as being engaging/enjoyable? are technical books considered enjoyable or useful?

I mean if you're reading something because you need to learn it, obviously that's valuable.

But a lot of people have this notion that books are this inherently fulfilling medium and that the activity is meant only for becoming a better person or some shit.

People actually BRAG about how many books they read, as if it's an accomplishment.

I don't buy into that. Just read what you want to read.
